Recipe For Cooking Butterscotch Cream Cheese Bars

Butterscotch Cream Cheese Bars1 (10 oz.) pkg. butterscotch chips 1/2 C. butter 2 C. graham cracker crumbs 8 oz. cream cheese 1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk 1 tea. vanilla extract or flavoring 1 egg 1 C. chopped pecan In a med. saucepan, melt butterscotch chips and butter over low heat. Remove from heat. Stir in cracker crumbs and mix well. Reserve 2/3 C. mixture. Press remainder firmly into bottom of a buttered 13 x 9-in. ovenproof glass baking dish, making a uniform layer. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. In a lrg. bowl, beat cream cheese until light and fluffy. Beat in sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract or flavoring and egg; fold in nuts. Pour into prepared pan. Scatter reserved crumb mixture evenly over top. Bake for 25 to 30 min. or until cake tester comes out clean. Cool to room temperature, then chill. Cut into 1 1/2 x 2-in. bars to serve.
