Recipe For Cooking Chuckwagon Cookies
Toaster Oven Cookies :: Drop Cookies
Chuckwagon Cookies7 C. sifted flour 1 tea. salt 1 Tbsp. ground ginger 1 tea. ground cloves 1 tea. ground nutmeg 1/2 tea. allspice 3/4 C. hot water 1/4 C. rum or rum flavoring 2 tea. baking soda 2 C. molasses or sorghum 1 C. lard or vegetable shortening 2 C. brown sugar or sugar Sift together flour, salt and spices. Set aside for a while. Add baking soda to the sorghum or molasses. Cream vegetable shortening and sugar in a lrg. crock or bowl. Add water, molasses and rum and cream thoroughly. Add dry ingredients. Stir until mixed well. Roll with a little flour as can be handled or put in refrigerator overnight. Roll 1/4 in. thick and cut with a 4-in. or lrg.r cookie cutter. Bake on prepared cookie sheet for 10 to 12 min. at 375 degrees F. Will keep for months and improve with age.
