Chocolate Cherry Kris Kringles

1/2 C. butter
1/2 C. brown sugar
1 tea. vanilla extract or flavoring
1 1/2 C. flour
1/8 tea. salt
20 to 25 maraschino cherries
20 to 25 chocolate chips, plus 1 C. chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Cream butter and sugar well. Add vanilla extract or flavoring, flour and salt. Mix well. Stuff each cherry with a chocolate chip, then wrap in 1 tea. dough. Bake on unprepared cookie sheet for 12 to 15 min. Cool.

Melt 1 C. chocolate chips in the top of a double boiler over low heat or in the microwave, and dip top of cookies into melted chocolate.
