Recipe For Cooking Iced Spiced Ginger Bars

Iced Spiced Ginger Bars

2 C. flour
1 C. sugar
1 tea. baking soda
1 tea. ground cinnamon
1 tea. ground ginger
1 tea. ground cloves
1/8 tea. salt
1 C. hot coffee
1 C. butter or margarine
1/2 C. molasses
2 eggs
1/3 C. butter
1/3 C. powderedsugar
1/2 tea. vanilla extract
3 Tbsp. water

Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 15 x 10-in. or a 13 x 9-in. baking pan.

In a lrg. bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda, spices, salt, coffee, a C. butter, molasses and eggs. Beat 2 min. at med. speed. Pour into prepared pan. Bake for 25-30 min. Let cool.

To make frosting: In a sm. saucepan over low heat, cook 1/3 C. butter until light golden brown, stirring constantly. Add powderedsugar, vanilla extract or flavoring and water. Blend until smooth. (You may need to add a little more water.) Spread over cooled bars.
